
Self-Employment ProgramThe Self-Employment Training Program is an intensive eight-week training course sponsored by Alberta Employment and Immigration . This entrepreneurial training program covers the many aspects of starting and maintaining your own business. Guided by an experienced facilitator, eligible participants will research and develop a viable business plan. Follow-up assistance includes on site visits and counselling by the Self-Employment Program Coordinator. You may be eligible to receive Employment Insurance benefits while you attend the training and benefits may be extended for a period of time while you start your business. The length and amount of your payments depends on your own personal Insurance Benefit claim. To determine eligibility for E.I benefits you must be assessed by an Alberta Employment and Immigration counsellor.
